The Lie That Tells a Truth

We have a lot of demands on our time and it’s difficult to read for pleasure. We spend so much time reading at our jobs, going home and reading more can be tough. But I encourage you not only to read in your spare time, but to read fiction. Fiction, the lie, often tells a truth - about ourselves, about our nature, about conflict, about love, about hate, about fear and about hope. Who are we, what motivates us, drives us, inspires us - discovering our purpose - we do this often by reading fiction. Exposing ourselves to fictional characters who are challenged as we are, and come through the crucible to the other side either better or worse for wear, what the character learns is what we learn, and how that character develops and grows teaches us how to develop and grow. I encourage you to read more novels, especially the classics, which are often character based and character driven and can teach us a lot about ourselves.
